It is always a good idea..

To write down your new blog's password. Just saying...

So tomorrow is my self imposed deadline to find a short term rental in Ajijic for mid January until around April or so. Given that this is the height of snowbird season I knew it would not be easy but I really underestimated the level of frustration it would cause.

I looked at a number of really great places when I was there two weeks ago but somehow what began as a richness of choices trickled down to nothing. Some of them were not available until later in spring so I made a separate list of "later" places to review once I am moved and settled in.

The first few places I saw that were supposedly available in January were great but the property managers seemed unable to get to back to me despite running into them in town and expressing my interest at getting a place nailed down before I left. And they are not Mexican, they are from the excited states. If I had a property managed by them I would be very unhappy but that is for a later blog post.

Paty from Coldwell Banker has been fabulous at keeping me up to speed on the properties she showed me and I would not hesitate to recommend her and will definitely use her again. The fabulous place in Riberas with the pool was leased for more money for a year so I lost out. She had a few other places that looked promising but didn't pan out, mostly because the owners did not want a pet. There is one last house in Villa Nova I am waiting to hear about. The owners are from NoB and were not sure if they would use the house or rent it this winter. Given the coldness and general crappiness of all weather NoB I expect unless they are sick or crazy they will be using it so not holding my breath. I should hear in the next day or so.

A lot of the listings I find are expired or unclear and sadly I don't hear back from a lot of the agents. I understand the dynamics, the timing etc and no biggie. It is frustrating and was getting me down but I heard about a casita this morning that might work out! Cross fingers please..

A big hug and thanks to my friends in Ajijic who have been keeping an eye out for me for a rental or house sit or anything suitable. I appreciate it!
